ನ್ಯೂರೋಸರ್ಜಿಕಲ್ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯೇ ಸಂಜೀವಿನಿ
ಮೈಸೂರು: ಮೆದುಳಿನ ಗೆಡ್ಡೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಬೆನ್ನೆಲುಬು ಜೋಡಣೆ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯು ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ ಜೀವಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾನಿಯುಂಟು ಮಾಡುತ್ತವೆ, ಇಂತಹ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಳ ನಂತರ ರೋಗಿಗೆ ದುಷ್ಪರಿಣಾಮಗಳಾಗುತ್ತವೆ ಎಂಬ ಮೂಢನಂಬಿಕೆ ನಮ್ಮ ನಡುವೆ ಇದೆ. ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಗುಣಪಡಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ಭಾವನೆಯೂ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಜನರಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ, ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲೇ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೀಡಿದರೆ ಗೆಡ್ಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ಗುಣಪಡಿಸಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಅರಿವಿನ ಕೊರತೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ, ತಡವಾಗಿ ರೋಗ ಪತ್ತೆ ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ದರ ದುಬಾರಿಯಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಇಂತಹ ಮೂಢನಂಬಿಕೆಗಳು ಇನ್ನೂ ನಮ್ಮ ನಡುವೆ ಇದೆ.
39 ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನ ಶಿವಣ್ಣ ಗೌಡ ಹಾಗೂ 40 ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ನೀಲಾಂಬರಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ತೀವ್ರವಾದ ಕೆಳಬೆನ್ನು ನೋವು ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿತ್ತು. ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಆ ನೋವು ಬೆನ್ನಿನ ಕೆಳಭಾಗದಿಂದ ತೊಡೆಯ ಹಿಂಬದಿ, ಕಾಲು ಹಾಗೂ ಪಾದದವರೆಗೂ ವ್ಯಾಪಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ನೋವಿನ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಆ ಭಾಗಗಳು ಸ್ಪಂದನೆ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ದಿನನಿತ್ಯದ ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲರಲ್ಲೂ ಇರುವಂತೆ ಇವರಲ್ಲೂ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹಲವು ಮೂಢನಂಬಿಕೆಗಳಿದ್ದವು. ಈ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗೆ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆದರೆ ಕಾಲು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ, ಪಾರ್ಶ್ವವಾಯು ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ರೋಗಿಗಳು ಹೆದರಿದ್ದರು. ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ಎಂಬುವವರು ಮತ್ತೊಂದೆಡೆ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗೆ ಒಳಗಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ನೋವು ಮಾತ್ರ ಬಾಧಿಸುತ್ತಲೇ ಇತ್ತು.

20 ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನ ಫಾತಿಮಾ ತೀವ್ರ ತಲೆನೋವು ಮತ್ತು ತಲೆತಿರುಗುವಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಕೊಲಂಬಿಯಾ ಏಷಿಯಾ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಟಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಎಂಆರ್ಐ ಸ್ಕ್ಯಾನಿಂಗ್ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಆಕೆಯ ಮೆದುಳಿನ ಮಧ್ಯಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಿ ಗೆಡ್ಡೆ ಬೆಳೆದಿರುವುದು ಕಂಡುಬಂತು. ಆದಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗ ಅದನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯದಿದ್ದರೆ ರೋಗಿಯ ಜೀವಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪಾಯವಾಗುವ ಸಂಭವವೂ ಇತ್ತು. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಅಂತಹ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಿಂದ ಗೆಡ್ಡೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯುವುದು ಸವಾಲಿನ ಕೆಲಸ. ರೋಗಿಗೆ ಅನಸ್ತೇಶಿಯಾ (ಅರಿವಳಿಕೆ) ನೀಡುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಗೊಳಪಡಿಸಿ ನಂತರ 7 ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಗೆಡ್ಡೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯಲಾಯಿತು. ಈಗ ಅವರು ಆರೋಗ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲರಂತೆ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜೀವನ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇಂಟರ್ಹೆಮಿಸ್ಪಿರಿಕ್ ಟ್ರಾನ್ಸ್ಕೊಲೊಸಲ್ ವಿಧಾನದ ಮೂಲಕ ನಡೆದ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಪರೇಟಿಂಗ್ ಮೈಕ್ರೋಸ್ಕೋಪ್, ಕ್ಯೂಸಾ ಮತ್ತಿತರ ಅತ್ಯಾಧುನಿಕ ಉಪಕರಣಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಹೊರತೆಗೆಯಲಾದ ಸೆಂಟ್ರಲ್ ನ್ಯೂರೋಸೈಟೋಮಾ ಗೆಡ್ಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಕಣಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಬಂತು. ಈಗ ಆಕೆ ರೋಗದಿಂದ ಗುಣಮುಖರಾಗಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜೀವನ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ʻಇಂತಹ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಪ್ರಕರಣ ನಡೆದಿದೆ, ಸೈಯದ್ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಸಲೀಂ ಎಂಬ 45 ವರ್ಷದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರು ತೀವ್ರ ಮುಖ ನೋವಿನಿಂದ ನಮ್ಮ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಯಾವ ಮಾತ್ರೆಯೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹಲ್ಲುಜ್ಜಲು, ಬಿಸಿ ಅಥವಾ ತಣ್ಣಗಿನ ಆಹಾರ ಸೇವಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರು ಸೇವಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಮಾತ್ರೆಗಳಿಂದ ನಿದ್ರೆ ಬರುವಂತಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ನಂತರ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಎಂಆರ್ಐ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಮುಖದ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಿಸುವ ನರವು ರಕ್ತನಾಳಗಳ ಒತ್ತಡದಿಂದ ಕುಗ್ಗಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ಅಂಶ ಎಂಆರ್ಐನಿಂದ ಕಂಡುಬಂತು. ಇಂತಹ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೋವು ತಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗದೆ ರೋಗಿಗೆ ಆತ್ಮಹತ್ಯೆಯ ಯೋಚನೆಗಳೂ ಬರುತ್ತವೆʼ ಎಂದು ಡಾ.ಮಕ್ಸೂದ್ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಕಿವಿಯ ಹಿಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೆದುಳಿನ ಬಳಿ ಸಣ್ಣ ಜಾಗ ಮಾಡಿ ಮೆದುಳಿನ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಕುಗ್ಗಿಹೋಗಿದ್ದ ನರವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಸರಿಪಡಿಸಿ (ಡೀಕಂಪ್ರೆಷನ್) ಮಾಮೂಲಿನಂತೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು.ಇದನ್ನು ಮೈಕ್ರೋವ್ಯಾಸ್ಕುಲರ್ ಡಿಕಂಪ್ರೆಷನ್ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ʻಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ತೀವ್ರ ನೋವು ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ನಾನು ನರಕಯಾತನೆ ಅನುಭವಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಈ ನೋವು ಸಹಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಅಸಾಧ್ಯ. ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ನನಗೆ ಉಸಿರಾಟದ ತೊಂದರೆಯೂ ಆಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಅವು ನನ್ನ ಜೀವನದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಭಯಾನಕ ದಿನಗಳು. ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಹಾಗೂ ನನ್ನ ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಸಹಕಾರದಿಂದ ಈಗ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಗುಣಮುಖನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆʼ ಎಂದು ಸೈಯದ್ ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಸಲೀಂ ತಮ್ಮ ಅನುಭವ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.

39-year-old Shivanna Gowda and 40-years-old Lakshmi Neelambari both suffered from low back pain, which was shooting, burning pain from the low back to the backs of the thighs, sometimes into the lower legs or feet, associated with numbness or tingling.
